Siding Repair & Replacement in Milton & Quincy, MA

Wind off the bay and salt air set the pace for siding repair in Milton and Quincy. After a nor'easter we re-hang the vinyl it lifted; on cedar and clapboard houses we cut out rot on the weather side; when a wall is beyond repair, we replace it. We come down from Chestnut Hill, about 25–30 minutes away.

Houses in Milton and Quincy

Milton is mostly older wood houses: colonials and Victorians in painted clapboard and cedar shingle. East Milton is mostly capes and small colonials, many in vinyl. In Quincy, Wollaston has many two-families and triple-deckers in vinyl over the original wood, while Squantum and Houghs Neck sit on peninsulas in the bay.

That exposure is the story here: wind unlocks vinyl panels and tears off J-channel, salt air rusts old nails under the paint, and nor’easters drive rain under cedar shingles.

What we fix most often here

  • Vinyl panels lifted or blown off in a nor’easter, usually on the corner facing the water.
  • Cedar shingles cupped, split or missing on the weather side.
  • Rust stains from old nails bleeding through paint on clapboard.
  • Brittle, chalky vinyl on south-facing walls.

After a storm, the 24-hour emergency service comes first and the finished repair follows. See vinyl siding repair and wood and cedar siding repair and painting.

Repair or replace?

Wind damage is usually local: one corner, one gable, one run of panels. That is a siding repair, and we say so on the phone. Salt and sun damage is different: when the vinyl is brittle on every side, or the clapboard rots in a new spot every spring, we talk about siding replacement and new installation.

Permits and historic districts

A full re-side usually needs a building permit from the town in Milton or the city’s building permit in Quincy; a repair in the same material usually does not. Milton’s older streets and parts of Quincy may lie in a local historic district: before changing siding material or trim visible from the street, check with the town’s historical commission.

How it works

  1. Text, call or WhatsApp (857) 245-9588. Send a photo of the wall.
  2. Free estimate. We check the fasteners, the flashing and the wood behind, and tell you repair or replacement, with the reasons.
  3. The work. We start at the corner that takes the weather and work in from there.
  4. Final look. You and the crew lead look at every repaired wall, and the yard goes back the way it was.

Questions homeowners ask

Can you match the vinyl on my Houghs Neck house if only one corner needs new panels?

Often, but not always. Vinyl fades, so a new panel beside old siding can show even when the profile is right. We bring samples and say before ordering whether to patch or re-side that wall so the change falls at a corner.

Why does the clapboard on my Milton house keep peeling on the side facing the bay?

Salt and wind-driven rain get into the wood faster than paint can shed them, and the old nails rust underneath. We cut out the soft boards, set new back-primed clapboard with stainless nails, then prime and paint the repair to match, or the whole wall when a patch would show.

A storm just stripped the water-facing corner of my Squantum house. What should I do first?

Call the 24-hour emergency service and, if it is safe, photograph the whole wall, not just the hole: the profile and J-channel tell us what to load before we leave. Panels still hanging by one lock are usually worth saving; the ones in the yard are not. The permanent fix is scheduled after that.
